چکیده

Abstract The present study describes a new species of the genus Sphaerospora found in urinary bladder flag cichlid, Mesonauta festivus collected Corre Água district municipality Macapá, Amapá State (Brazil). includes morphological and phylogenetic analyses parasite, to determine relationship with related myxosporean species. has polysporous plasmodia, which vary size shape. mature myxospores are subspherical shape valvar view. In sutural view, 5.3±0.2 (5.2-5.6) μm length 7.0±0.7 (6.3-7.7) width, two piriform polar capsules equal size, 2.5±0.2 (2.3-2.8) 1.8±0.2 (1.6-2.0) width. partial sequence 18S rRNA gene confirmed status determined species. The sum evidence indicates that, n. sp. belongs family Sphaerosporidae, is first record from Brazil.

Morphological characteristics of Parsi cichlid Iranocichla persa (Teleostei; Cichlidae)

To provide more morphological data of I. persa, in this study, morphological characteristics along with scales and otolith were studied. Fish samples were collected from Khorgo spring and transferred to the laboratory. Fish were classified into three class sizes based on standard length. Based on the results, the size of the first class was different in 12 relative traits but did not show a sig...

Phylogeny and biogeography of cichlid fishes (Teleostei: Perciformes: Cichlidae)

Family level molecular phylogenetic analyses of cichlid fishes have generally suffered from a limited number of characters and ⁄or poor taxonomic sampling across one or more major geographic assemblage, and therefore have not provided a robust test of early intrafamilial diversification. Herein we use both nuclear and mitochondrial nucleotide characters and direct optimization to reconstruct a ...

Comparative cytogenetics of ten species of cichlid fishes (Teleostei, Cichlidae) from the Araguaia River system, Brazil, by conventional cytogenetic methods

Cichlids represent one of the most species-rich families of fishes and have attracted the attention of evolutionary biologists due to the rapid radiation occurring in some groups and the importance of some species in the world aquaculture. Cytogenetic analysis was conducted in 10 cichlid species from the Araguaia River, Amazon Basin, Brazil. The chromosome number was 2n=48 for all analyzed spec...
